On Pins and Needles: An exploration of Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida (part two)

Acupuncture Gainesville Florida Joseph Williams Sunshine Integrative Health 3In my post On Pins and Needles: An exploration of Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida (part one), I introduced the Doogie Howser of the Human Voodoo Doll Set (what I call Acupuncturists).

I’m speaking of none other than…drum roll please…Joseph Williams! One of the only men on the planet who can get away with wearing pink and not look Metro!

And I can’t even talk about his shoes!

Where does he get those shoes!?

As I pointed out in Part One of this blog series, the energetic healing modalities (Acupuncture, Reiki, Chakra Balancing, Chakra Clearing, etc)…just haven’t really “done” it for me.

Not that I’m not a “believer”…but I was in the Entertainment Industry for over twenty years so…odd as this may seem…I’m a little jaded.

Did I mention my proclivity for sarcasm?

OK…I’m stalling…back to Joseph and his Acupuncture practice, Sunshine Integrative Health, Inc.

In a desperate attempt to rid myself of the mid-life spontaneous self combustion episodes (hot flashes) and because he’s such a nice guy, I went to Joseph’s office in the Siegel Building on University Avenue in Gainesville, Florida.

I got all comfy, he did his thing with the needles, I listened to the fantastic music mix he prepared, he lit a couple herb packs on my stomach and…yeah…I know…you wanna’ know about the herb pack lit on my stomach thing.

Here’s the story on that….I don’t “get” it either.

One, I can never remember what the herb is. Second, Joseph told me putting the herb on my tummy and lighting it was supposed to help the hot flashes but…never mind…I’ll ask him to explain further and I’ll include the information in Part Three.

The whole she-bang only took like an hour. That includes my favorite part of the process. That’s the part where I have to share feelings and personal information.

Remember the sarcasm bit?

And…did I mention…I’m a Scorpio!?

We…and I feel confident that I’m speaking for every Scorpio who has ever or will ever live…we don’t share.

Nonetheless, when the treatment was finished and Joseph asked me how I was feeling…I started giggling.

And couldn’t stop.

I mean truly could not stop. Then I noticed I had this, like, floaty feeling thing goin’ on.

Joseph told me that was a perfectly normal response but I was so busy giggling I don’t remember why Acupuncture causes those types of responses. I’ll ask and get back with you!

I had to get Acupuncture Gainesville Florida Joseph Williams Sunshine Integrative Health 1to Wild Iris so off I went.

A few days later, I realized I hadn’t had a hot flash since my visit to Sunshine Integrative Health, Inc.

Now, in all fairness to scientific scrutiny, that was the week North Florida finally stopped doing it’s impression of the surface of the Sun and the weather had cooled considerably.

So, when Joseph called about a week and a half after our session, I told him I hadn’t had a hot flash since my treatment but I was upfront and let him know the jury was still out as it pertained to the Acupuncture treatment’s effect on said moments of combustion.

In point of fact, I didn’t have a hot flash for two and a half weeks. Then, the first one I had after the treatment was so mild, I wasn’t really sure I’d had a hot flash at all.

That being said…I will say this…I was duly impressed he called for a follow up.

That’s classy.

Oh…one other little thing I might have forgotten to mention about this whole experiAcupuncture Gainesville Florida Joseph Williams Sunshine Integrative Health 4ence. When I left Joseph’s office that day I was feeling…I dunno’…peaceful…centered…like all was right with the world.

That feeling continued for about three days.

Now that’s something I can’t chalk up to the weather.

I’m not willing to say I got my groove back…but it was groovy.

Actually, all was going really well until Joseph called again.

Can you imagine?

Of all the nerve!

He followed up again!

In On Pins and Needles: An exploration of Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida (part three), I’ll tell you if I went to visit Joseph again, if my groove ever got back and if I changed my mind about at least one energetic healing modality.
